U.S. Army Sgt.1st Class Joshua Olson walks off the landing zone at Camp Morehead, Afghanistan, with U.S. Special Forces Soldiers May 29, 2014, during Operation Proper Exit, a Troop’s First Foundation initiative that allows service members who are severely injured in the line of duty to return to the battlefield and leave on their own terms. Olson was serving in Tal Afar, Iraq, in 2003 when his vehicle was ambushed. He was hit with a rocket-propelled grenade resulting in the loss of his right leg from the hip down.
