Marines who once served together in 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, are reunited fifteen years later aboard Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan, May 24, 2014. Pictured from left to right: Sgt. Maj. Douglas Berry Jr., sergeant major of Regional Command (Southwest); Maj. Gen. Kenneth F. McKenzie, incoming commander of U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Central Command; Lt. Gen. Robert B. Neller, commander of MARCENT; Sgt. Maj. John Kennedy, sergeant major of Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 467; and Sgt. Maj. Darrel D. Rowe, sergeant major of Marine Wing Support Squadron 274. The Marines served in 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, and on the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit together from 1998 to 1999. At the time, Col. Neller was the regimental commander; Lt. Col. McKenzie was the Brigade Landing Team commander, while Staff Sgt. Berry was the platoon sergeant. Sgt. Kennedy and Sgt. Rowe were squad leaders at the time.
