On June 6, 2014, the Missing In America Project in cooperation with the American Legion Post 71 of North Augusta, S.C. and Post 193 of Chapin, S.C., conducted a full military honors funeral for seven previously unclaimed Veterans at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, S.C. Those being interred had collectively served the nation for more than 23 years. Six were Army and one was Navy having served in WWII, Vietnam and/or the Cold War. Little more is known about the Veterans other than the fact that they served honorably. Here an honor guard from Fort Gordon, Georgia salutes after presenting urn and a U.S. flag for Army Pvt. Frederick J. Southerland.
