    Marine Forces Reserve (MARFORRES)

Reconnaissance Marines with Company C, 4th Reconnaissance Battalion, Marine Forces Reserve, conduct Special Patrol Insertion/Extraction, or SPIE rigging, out of a CH-46E Sea Knight helicopter with Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 774, to maintain their qualifications during Integrated Training Exercise 4-14 here, June 11, 2014. SPIE rigging is conducted to quickly extract Marines from a location where a helicopter cannot land or is limited on time. Reserve training exercises like ITX 4-14 are imperative to maintaining readiness and integrating seamlessly with their active duty counterparts. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Codey Underwood)
