Perched in the turret of a Humvee, Pfc. Nicholas Lavertu, a gunner, from the 744th Forward Support Company, New Hampshire Army National Guard, corrects an M-16 assault rifle malfunction while returning fire during a training exercise at Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center, Mich., July 15. While conducting route reconnaissance, examining the ground for threats, the soldiers react accordingly when being fired upon by the enemy. The company is one of many participating in the almost three-week annual training, where they will conduct scenario based training to include live-fire exercises, logistical operations and counter-ied training, collaboratively known as eXportable Combat Training Capability.
