The field exercise marked the first use of American artillery on Estonian soil and was a part of Operation Atlantic Resolve, which includes combined training exercises with U.S., Polish, Estonian, Latvian, and Lithuanian military forces to foster interoperability and demonstrate a commitment to NATO obligations.
