Sgt. Michael Lesiewicz currently serves as a Marine Corps drill instructor with Lima Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C. Leswiewicz joined the Marine Corps in July 2006 and became a drill instructor in December 2013. “I became a drill instructor to give back to the Marine Corps because they’ve given me so much,” said Lesiewicz. “I wanted to influence the next generation of Marines and ensure they’re held to the highest standard.” Lesiewicz, 28, is from Rockford, Mich. About 600 Marine Corps drill instructors shape the approximately 20,000 recruits who come to Parris Island annually into basic United States Marines.
