Sgt. Tristan L. Bell, a Laurel, Montana, native, posts security during a patrol training event July 22 during Korean Marine Exchange Program 14-12 at the military operations on urbanized terrain training center at the 1st Republic of Korea Marine Division Base, Pohang, South Korea. KMEP is a series of regularly scheduled bilateral training exercises that enhances interoperability and increases familiarization of the area as well as weapons and safety procedures. The patrol involved a movement to contact and a transition to defense between opposing ROK and U.S. Marine forces. Tristran is a light armored vehicle crewman with 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion currently assigned to Combat Assault Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, under the unit deployment program. The participating ROK Marines are with 7th Company, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 1st ROK Marine Division.
