U.S. Marines patrol through thick brush July 22 during Korean Marine Exchange Program 14-12 at the 1st Republic of Korea Marine Division Base, Pohang, South Korea. KMEP is a regularly scheduled bilateral training exercise which allows U.S. and ROK Marines to work together and familiarize themselves with each other’s tactics techniques and procedures. The patrol training event involved a movement to contact and a transition to defense between opposing ROK and U.S. Marine forces. The Marines are with 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion currently assigned to Combat Assault Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, under the unit deployment program.
