Stennis before a flight in an MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter from the "Raptors" of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 71. Bird was aboard to observe an undersea warfare exercise involving the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and the John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group. John C. Stennis and Carrier Air Wing 9 are on a scheduled six-month deployment to the western Pacific Ocean.
