Aircraft ordnance technicians from Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 533, currently assigned to Marine Aircraft Group 12, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force, load a missile onto an FA-18C Hornet on the opening day of the exercise Valiant Shield 2014. Valiant Shield is a joint biennial exercise that allows the different branches of the U.S. military to practice combining their strengths to accomplish missions at sea, in the air, on land, and in cyberspace. The missiles are for a sinking exercise that provides participants an opportunity to gain proficiency in tactics, targeting and live-firing against surface targets at sea.
