Rock Island Arsenal's Joint Manufacturing and Technology center designed and created the new U.S. Army signs welcoming employees and visitors to the arsenal. RIA-JMTC is developing a process to cast similar products using the Army's only foundry, located within JMTC. The casting process will reduce costs as more installations adopt the new sign template. Garrison Commander Col. David J. Luders said most of the equipment produced at the arsenal gets sent around the world. "It is nice to have something that our employees produce stay right here in the Quad Cities," Luder said. "We hope that we can manufacture more signs that will be used at Army installations at home and abroad."
