Members of the 1st Cavalry Division Honor Guard execute a saber presentation during the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division’s 30th birthday commemoration at the 1st Cavalry Division Museum at Fort Hood, Texas, Sept. 16. The brigade traces its history back to the early '60s, where it was eventually reassigned to the 1st Cavalry Division in 1965 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 11th Aviation Group. Later that year in August, the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) was sent to Vietnam. During the war, aviators from the Air Cav participated in 14 campaigns and received seven unit decorations during its seven years of duty in Vietnam.
