A U.S. Marine Corps assault amphibious vehicle assigned to the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) departs the well deck of the amphibious dock landing ship USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44) during amphibious operations in the Persian Gulf Aug. 21, 2014. The Gunston Hall and the 22nd MEU were part of the Bataan Amphibious Readiness Group and were underway in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts.
