Levee inspectors walked 25 miles -- the length of the Dallas Floodway levees -- in April 2014 for the field portion of Periodic Inspection No. 10. The Fort Worth District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers upgraded the levee ratings in its Sept. 25 report. The system was rated "Minimally Acceptable," reflecting the tremendous effort by the local sponsor, the city of Dallas, after the last inspection. The new rating means the integrity of the system is not compromised in performing as intended during a flood event to the full height of the levee.
