Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Randall W. Jensen, from NAS Lemoore, Calif., cleans off the rearview mirror of his Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicle, or MRAP, at Camp Slayer on March 13. He is the driver for the vehicle, and like a crew chief for an aircraft, he inspects and maintains the MRAP on a daily basis to keep it in top condition. Jensen is part of a contingent of around 30 Naval Reserve and Active Duty Sailors assigned to work with the 304th Civil Affairs Brigade to help augment the civil affairs mission in Iraq. This unique joint assignment brings the best of both services and allows the civilian expertise of these Reserve Sailors and Soldiers to shine through. The civil affairs brigade is the senior CA command for approximately 800 civil affairs Soldiers and Sailors supporting war-fighting commanders throughout Iraq. This Army Reserve brigade, composed predominantly of Warrior Citizen Soldiers from the Philadelphia area, is part of the U.S. Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command (Airborne), headquartered at Fort Bragg, N.C.
