Even as the uppermost layers of the lava flow cools, the bottom layer continues to flow towards the town of Pahoa in Puna, Hawaii, Oct. 30, 2014. Hawaii Army and Air National Guardsmen were called to support Civil Defense authorities reacting to the Puna lava flow.
