Chief of Naval Personnel Vice Adm. William Moran speaks at the Spirit of America Dinner hosted by the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce at the J.W. Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort and Spa, Nov. 6. 2014. According to Moran, more than 10 percent of the Navy’s current force originated from the state of Texas. The Spirit of America Dinner was one of the many events held during Celebrate America’s Military Week. Since 1970, the San Antonio Chamber has organized this annual tribute to our nation’s military. Known as “CAM”, this two-week community-wide celebrate includes over two dozen events hosted by organizations across San Antonio. CAM is a unique tradition unlike any other in the world where our community expresses appreciation to the men and women who serve, and have served our nation. It is one of the oldest and largest community-wide celebrations of the military throughout the United States and a reason why San Antonio is known as “Military City, USA.” (Navy Photo by Burrell Parmer, Navy Recruiting District San Antonio Public Affairs/Released)
