After dismounting from his vehicle, 2nd Lt. Crockett Colbert, platoon leader for 2nd Plt., A Co., 2nd Bn.,12th Cav. Regt, 1st ABCT, 1st Cav Div., establishes radio contact with other American forces before advancing his platoon toward a mock enemy position during Exercise Combined Resolve III, Grafenwoehr, Germany, Nov. 17, 2014. Due to the often complex and potentially deadly nature of platoon-sized combat maneuvers, clear and constant communication occurs in order to ensure the destruction of enemy forces and in order to avoid friendly fire.
