Cpl. Benjamin Dube levels the dirt beneath a sheet of aluminum, or AM-2, matting, April 26, at Camp Bastion, Helmand province, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. The Marines of Marine Wing Support Squadron 371 have begun construction of a 1.9 million square-foot aircraft parking expansion that will provide military aircraft a place to park after landing at the Camp Bastion airfield, a service currently not available. Marines of all military occupational specialties, mentored by expeditionary airfield technicians, have contributed to the construction of the parking expanse. Dube is an expeditionary airfield technician with MWSS-371. MWSS-371 is part of the aviation combat element of 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, whose mission is to conduct counterinsurgency operations with a focus on training and mentoring the Afghan national police.
