Cpl. John James, a student with the Semi Refueler Operator Course and motor transportation operator with Marine Wing Support Squadron 271, Marine Aircraft Group 14, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, practices removing bulk fuel from the M970 semitrailer refueler Dec. 17, 2014 aboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina. In the event that fuel was spilled during normal refueling operations, the semirefueler operators are trained to evacuate the fuel from the trailer’s hoses, as well as refuel it back into the trailer. The SROC is being held aboard the air station to train 24 Marines with various units within II MEF to become proficient semitrailer refueler operators, an advanced military occupational specialty after Marines earn the primary MOS of motor vehicle operator.
