Petty Officer 1st Class David J. Swasey, electronics technician, pulls Petty Officer 2nd Class Bradley J. Lucas, gunner's mate, during a medical evacuation board Surface Line Week competition in Naval Station, Norfolk Va. Both Sailors are assigned to the guided cruiser USS Normandy and competed in the search and rescue swimmer competition. Surface Line Week challenges Norfolk area Sailors against waterfront commands and units in a number of naval, morale and welfare activities. Surface Line Week is seen as an opportunity to promote greater coordination and communication among surface warriors, to build esprit de corps and camaraderie, and to recognize professional excellence across the force.
