U.S. Air Force Maj. David Simpson, Multi-National Security Transition Command – Iraq ITAM-Air Force, and his fellow airmen look at a new memorial display for five airmen killed in a plane crash. One Iraqi pilot and four U.S. airmen died when their Iraqi Air Force Comp Air 7SL aircraft crashed in eastern Diyala province May 30, 2005. The crash served as catalyst for the U.S. Air Force to commit its full resources to the ITAM-Air Force mission and the rebuilding of the Iraqi Air Force.
