A cut above using the official Navy Medical Corps birthday scalpel ... Naval Hospital Bremerton Commanding Officer Capt. Christopher Quarles shares with Capt. Michael Maddox of Otorhinolaryngology Department and Lt. Paul Flood of Family Practice Clinic the distinction they upheld representing the Navy’s Medical Corps as the oldest and youngest members, respectively, with the traditional cake cutting ceremony held March 9, 2015, at NHB. It was in 1871 that the Navy Medical Corps was founded –the Navy’s oldest medical department corps - and in the following 143 years, the Medical Corps has distinguished itself across the seven seas, on the fields of battle, and all places in between. “Although some say we don’t look a day over 93,” added Quarles (Official Navy photo by Douglas H Stutz, NHB Public Affairs)
