Navy Capt. Michele A. Hancock wraps up a Unit Marine Awareness and Prevention Integrated Training instructor course for the first sailors to be certified instructors of the curriculum March 12 at the 3rd Medical Battalion Headquarters building on Camp Foster. First released last October, the annual training addresses behavior health concerns taught in an interactive and personalized nature. The annual training is approximately two hours compared to the six to seven hour courses of the past. “We want to make sure this type of training doesn’t turn into one of those types of events that are … a check in the box, type of events,” said Hancock. “It needs to be interactive, and usually the value comes from the interaction ...” Hancock is the commanding officer of 3rd Medical Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
