First Army has selected Staff Sgt. Gregory Pyrek and Spec. Kevin Jarvis, as the First Army 2009 Non-Commissioned Officer and Soldier of the Year, respectively. Pyrek, from the 5th Armored Brigade, Division West, and Jarvis, with the 166th Aviation Brigade, also Division West, will go on to represent First Army at the U.S. Forces Command NCO and Soldier of the Year competition to be held at Fort Hood, Texas, in late July. There, they will compete against NCOs and Soldiers who have also advanced through FORSCOMs other subordinate commands.
