Cmdr. Carl Reed, the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan's navigator, checks the ship's projected movement with Petty Officer 3rd Class Melissa Pate, quartermaster, in the ship's pilothouse. The ship's Navigation Department must be vigilant in watching the ship's movement, especially when pulling into or out of port. Inattentiveness could cause the ship to run aground or even collide with another ship. Ronald Reagan is moored pier-side in Singapore for a scheduled port visit.
