150510-N-ZY039-010 U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (May 10, 2015) – Logistics Specialist Seaman and Fire Controlman 3rd Class Jonathan Saldivar aboard the guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy (CG 60) check ammunition rounds before firing a mounted .50-caliber machine gun during a live fire exercise. Normandy is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations as part of Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, strike operations in Iraq and Syria as directed, conducting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the region.
