Gen. James T. Conway, commandant of the Marine Corps and Sgt. Maj. Carlton W. Kent, sergeant major of the Marine Corps, speak to Marines Aug. 24 as a part of their visit to region. This is the commandant's first visit to Afghanistan since April. He praised the Marines for their efforts during Operation Khanjar, in which Marines with Regimental Combat Team 3 spread into the Helmand River valley to provide security for the people in areas previously influenced by Taliban insurgents.
