Spc. Hector Diaz, from Queens, N.Y., the radio telephone operator with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 260th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade, monitors the six RT-1523 radios, and several Movement Tracking Systems in order to maintain a constant state of communications and accountability of all Soldiers maneuvering in and around Multi-National Division-Baghdad. He provides the battalion Battle Captain up-to-date information on all moving pieces on the battlefield and is in constant communication with the battalions and neighboring units. Diaz works with all convoy commanders who travel every day to other forward operating bases, by assisting them with troubleshooting procedures to correct radio malfunctions.
