    Coast Guard Art Program

In this work from the U.S. Coast Guard Art Program 2015 Collection, "Cleanup,” ID# 201501, the Coast Guard, along with state and local agencies, worked for a month to clean up oil spilled in the Houston Ship Channel and Galveston Bay in April 2014. Winds pushed oil onto the shorelines facing the Houston Ship Channel as the tides carried oil out into the Gulf of Mexico after a nearly 168,000 gallon spill near Texas City. The spill was the result of a collision of an oil carrying-barge and another vessel. (U.S. Coast Guard Art Program work by Daven Anderson)
