Lt. Col. Stephen W. Owen accepts the battalion colors of 122nd Aviation Support Battalion, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, during a change of command ceremony form the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade commander Col. Mike Musiol on Fort Bragg, N.C., June 3, 2015. Lt. Col. Gail E. Atkins relinquished command of 122nd Aviation Support Battalion after serving the unit as the commander over 24 months. Atkins redeployed the battalion from Afghanistan by the end of December 2014 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and helped assist with the retrograde operations in Afghanistan. Owen will continue to lead the battalion to conduct combat service support operations to provide the brigade logistical support to perform full spectrum aviation operations.
