Doug Walker, a training and outreach coordinator with the U.S. Department of Energy, and Aurora Fire Department Capt. Cindy Andersen, a safety officer for the fire department's hazardous materials team, use a survey meter to check for contamination on a package with slight traces of a radiological agent in it. The exercise was part of a three-day training in which Colorado National Guard's 8th Civil Support Team and the DOE the instructed firefighters on radiological response techniques.
