Spc. Brian Matus of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, from the Communications Section, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 396th Transportation Company, 260th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, selects a radio for use in the company's night convoy operation. The 396 TC, from Fort Stewart, Ga., took over for another company, Sept. 1. The company transports Class I, V, VII, and IX with Palletized Load System trucks to various forward operating bases. The unit also has organic Heavy Equipment Transporter capability via the attached 96th HET platoon, from Fort Hood, Texas. Spc. Matus is one half of a two man communications team who can address any communication issues for the fleet, to include the Movement Tracking System, radios, and electronic countermeasures. He is an integral part of the convoy preparation process troubleshooting equipment, conducting pre-combat checks, and providing training on a wide variety of tasks from loading COMSEC to rewiring vehicle intercoms.
