Spc. Jessica Velasquez, of Gardena, Calif., makes a balloon animal out of a surgical glove and hands it off to a group of excited Iraqi girls at an elementary school during a recent combined humanitarian assistance mission in the town of Salman Pak, Iraq, located 30 miles southeast of Baghdad. Velasquez was one of six U.S. medics on hand to assist Iraqi medical personnel during the recent mission. Velasquez serves as a medic assigned to Company C, 82nd Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Multi-National Division-Baghdad, and is currently serving in her first deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
