Cpl. Jose Gonzales, student with Marine Corps Martial Arts Program Martial Arts Instructor Course 205-15 and a heavy equipment operator with 8th Communication Battalion, II Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group, rushes to grab his new MCMAP belt with his instructor tab June 27, 2015, aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C. During the training students had to ground fight to get past their instructors to reach for and earn their new instructor belts. The fighting was the last of many training events included in the students’ final challenge before earning the certification that will allow them to train Marines back at their parent commands in becoming more skilled martial artists. The challenge was more than six hours long and tested the Marines’ physical, mental and moral toughness throughout the day.
