John Lopez, a forward observer for the Scout Platoon of Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 1st Squadron, 221st Cavalry Regiment, takes a rest as his platoon moves to support a unit engaged in a conflict. Lopez, a Riverside, Calif., native and his platoon provided extra security in a recent fire fight in Lagham province.
