1st Class Robert Dillard, Boatswain's Mate, 1st Class Bill Mowrey, Boatswain's Mate, craft masters aboard Landing Craft Utility 1645, await the embarkation of Marines from the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit for transport to the amphibious assault ship USS Nassau (LHA 4). The LCU crew, ship and Marines are participating in Composite Unit Training Exercise, an exercise designed to provide realistic training environments for U.S. naval forces that closely replicate the operational challenges routinely encountered during military operations worldwide.
