Staff Sgt. Stephen Penny, 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, goes over the Mountain Rifleman’s packing list from World War II with Charles W. Smith, who was one of the original Ski Troopers in the 85th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, when he and his Family came to visit Fort Drum Sept. 25, 2015. The 91-year-old is a World War II vet, Bronze Star and Purple Heart medals recipient. He fought in Italy in 1945 throughout Riva Ridge, Mount Belvedere and Po Valley. (U.S. Army photo by Master Sgt.
