Ernest Edwin Evans in the National Museum of the United States Navy on Oct. 15. Evans was awarded the Medal of Honor, Bronze Star with Combat "V," Purple Heart and Presidential Unit Citation for meritorious achievement as commanding officer of the USS Johnston in action against the Japanese Fleet during the Battle off Samar in October 1944.
