Spc. Shameka Brinson, a North Carolina National Guard Soldier serving in Kosovo with Multinational Battle Group-East, scans the hillside for potential threats while on an Oct. 22, 2015, patrolling exercise at Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo, as part of the Army’s basic leader course. Brinson was one of 50 Soldiers who graduated the course on Oct. 27. The patrol gave students a chance to take on the role of squad leader or team leader, and allowed instructors to evaluate their individual leadership skills. (U.S. Army photo by Staff Sgt.
