Petty Officer 3rd Class (SW/AW) Leon Bodden, culinary specialist, of USS Wasp hugs his mother, Janet Flowers, upon seeing her for the first time in seven years after arriving in Belize City, Belize, Nov. 24, along with other Wasp Sailors participating in Project Handclasp-related events. Bodden, a native of Belize, emigrated with his father to the United States 23 years ago at the age of two and had last spoken with his mother during his previous visit to Belize following his 18th birthday. Wasp is currently deployed on Southern Partnership Station-Amphib with Destroyer Squadron 40 and embarked Security Cooperation Marine Air Ground Task Force. Southern Partnership Station is part of the Partnership of the Americas Maritime Strategy that focuses on building interoperability and cooperation in the region to meet common challenges.
