Lt. Col. Chris Eldridge, Chief United States Military Liaison Officer in Belize, presents shirts emblazoned with the U.S. and Belizean national flags to Raineldo Guerrero (right), the Port of Belize chief executive officer, and Franzine Waight, the Port of Belize deputy CEO, as thanks for their role in helping to transport the approximately 39,000 pounds of Project Handclasp supplies carried aboard USS Wasp to Belize City, Belize for their ceremonial turnover to the Belizean government and various non-governmental organizations. Included in the shipment were textbooks, medical supplies, first aid, hygiene products, back packs filled with school supplies, teddy bears, and a toy pallet. Wasp is currently deployed on Southern Partnership Station-Amphib with Destroyer Squadron 40 and embarked SCMAGTF. Southern Partnership Station is part of the Partnership of the Americas Maritime Strategy that focuses on building interoperability and cooperation in the region to meet common challenges.
