Nearly 100 Marines and sailors with Special-Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Crisis Response-Africa, worked with more than 30 sailors, with some acting as role players, with Naval Air Station Sigonella, during an evacuation control center, or ECC, Jan. 14, at the air station’s passenger terminal to refine the crisis response unit’s ECC skills should another crisis occur. In July 2014, U.S. Marines and sailors with SPMAGTF-CR-AF based out of Moron Air Base, Spain, assisted the U.S. embassy in Tripoli, Libya, to evacuate U.S. personnel, due to the instability from militias fighting for control of the country. Evacuation control center services include administrative processing, medical, pat-down searches, food, Morale, Welfare and Recreation, among others.
