A senior drill instructor of India Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, watches as his platoon is inspected during a series commander inspection at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Feb. 8. Although this is a series commander inspection, drill instructors also inspect the recruits to see how they’ve progressed since their initial inspection, the senior drill instructor inspection. This inspection marks the beginning of the third and final phase for recruits. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. India Company is scheduled to graduate March 11.
