Sgt. 1st Class Michael Long holds an award recognizing him as the California Army National Guard's top recruiter for 2015, having enlisted 31 new, non-prior-service soldiers, Dec. 4 at Camp San Luis Obispo, Calif. Only a few weeks later, on Dec. 30, Long would jump into Markham Ravine near Lincoln to rescue a woman who was trapped in her sinking car.
