Members of a Jungle Environmental Survival Training course from Joint Special Operations Task Force-Philippines start a fire using bamboo. The training was a two-day course in the jungle on how to survive by using the land to build shelter, find animals that are safe to eat and use plants for basic first aid and other uses. Selected JSOTF-P personnel who may be stranded in remote areas go to this course to learn basic outdoor survival techniques. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. Jose E. Castellon/Released)
