A U.S. Navy Special Warfare Operator Petty Officer 1st Class medic assigned to Joint Special Operations Task Force-Philippines instructs a member of the armed forces of the Philippines Naval Special Operations Group on how to provide immediate care to a patient with a chest wound during a field medical exercise. The AFP and JSOTF-P partnered for a month-long course teaching Filipino navy SEALs what steps to take if they encounter casualties on the battlefield. During the course, students learned how to properly treat a variety of combat-related injuries, such as applying a tourniquet to stop bleeding, ways to open a patient's airway, treatment for a collapsed lung and how to treat patients for shock.
