Staff Sgt. Donald J. Jackson, senior drill instructor, Receiving Company, Support Battalion, gives recruits of Echo Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, their introductory brief at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, April 11. Recruits are initially taught the position of attention as well as that that they will now eat, sleep and train as a team. This is where the transformation begins for each recruit. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Echo Company is scheduled to graduate July 8.
