Simanek, 85, attended a ship naming ceremony with distinguished guests including elected officials, military officers, veterans, family, friends and members of the public at the General Motors Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit on the international riverfront. Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) Ray Mabus announced the Navy's newest Arleigh Burke class destroyer, DDG 120, was named Carl M. Levin in honor of the longest serving senator in Michigan history.
